Public Relations Internship 

Think content writing is just about crafting great copy? Think again. Public relations is about getting journalists to cover your clients' stories. While content writers create blogs, social posts, and website copy that lives on branded channels, PR professionals find news angles that matter, pitch stories to reporters, track media coverage, build journalist contacts, and secure news articles and interviews that reach audiences through trusted third-party sources. 

As a PR intern at Paulsen, you'll learn the hands-on skills of media relations—from researching which reporters cover your beat to crafting pitches they'll actually respond to. Unlike content writing, where you control the message from start to finish, PR is about developing sound news judgment as well as building relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry experts who will share your clients' stories with their audiences—carrying far more weight than any branded content ever could. 

What You'll Actually Do: 

• Research and build targeted journalist lists across agricultural and trade media
• Learn what makes something "newsworthy" vs. just marketing
• Track daily news coverage across industry publications and outlets
• Monitor and tag media mentions for client reports and analysis
• Develop press releases, media advisories, and editorial content designed to generate coverage
• Build and maintain editorial calendars in conjunction with the paid media team
• Support outreach to journalists and industry influencers Learn the behind-the-scenes work that makes media relationships successful
